Smith Wigglesworth grew up in abject poverty in Yorkshire, England. He went to work in the fields at age six and never received a proper education — he couldn't even read. But he had a consuming love for God.

When he married Polly Featherstone in 1882, she taught him to read — using the Bible. And the Bible was the only book he ever read for the rest of his life. He banned newspapers from his home. He carried his New Testament wherever he went.

From that Word-saturated life flowed an extraordinary power. The blind saw. The crippled walked. Cancers dissolved. And 14 people were raised from the dead during his ministry.
